The Bru family have owned the historical Chteau de Bru domain for 400 years. At the beginning of the 20th century when the phylloxera crisis hit all the vines were uprooted leaving the estate without its source of income. Only in 1987 the Comte Eric de Bru, out of passion for wine, replanted the entire vineyard, and in particular, the famous Clos Bru. His daughter Athnas now runs the domain. Since converting to biodynamics, Athnas’ first vintage was 2005 and in the years that followed she has become one of the most revered and influential winemakers in Chablis. She now manages 15 hectares on the classic soils of Chablis, kimmeridgian clay and stones. Our visit with Athenais was truly inspirational. She is an amazing winemaker of incredible purity and virtue. – Importer Note
