When I first met Joanna she was doing PR for COS and helped them mostly in the English speaking Markets . Originally from Poland she has lived in Sicily for the past ten years. After a few years Joanna decided to make wine for herself on a very small scale with the same principles she learned at COS and started buying grapes from Friends and Neighbours. The first wine was a blend of COS ,Arianna Occhipinti, Riofavara and Piano Grillo. And that is how the story of Maninalto started.

In January 2016, Joanna was given a piece of a vineyard to manage comprised of about 800 Nero d’Avola plants which are 40 years old. That’s where her entire heart is. Her concept of working in the vineyards is expressed by one word respect. With climate change one cannot be lazy. Life goes on with or without you. So for instance, if you do not have enough money to hire a team of people to work with you, you just have to hustle, run, do it yourself,simple. – Importer Note
